Ricky Williams Retires

This ends one of the most enigmatic careers of all time in professional sports.  The guy who Ditka once traded his entire draft for,  {stupidly I might add} is going to walk away from the game while he was still productive at the ripe old age of 34.  In NFL running back years, that is well beyond the age when most backs head into retirement or as Mike Tyson famously once said “Bolivion.”  He had a couple of very good years before being suspended for egregious marijuana use, then went to the CFL, then back to the NFL.  By all accounts his Ravens teammates thought a lot of him.  I guess now he moves on to the next phase of his life and we wish him the best.  Rumors that he is looking to move to New London could not be substantiated as of this writing.

Since the topic is Ricky Williams I have to ask this question, Mike Ditka traded his entire draft to choose Williams with the 5th pick, would you trade your entire draft for one player in NFL history and if yes who.

  2. Shawn says:

Dan Marino the first year and then Bo Jackson the second year on the same team. Then we could get Marino 3 or 4 super bowls.

Ray Guy….he owned the coffin corner!

Todays rules…would have to be a QB..no? If you sneeze near them there’s a flag. Prolonging their careers a little. So I guess I would say Joe Montana.

I would take the original and only “LT”

LT changed the way the game was played on defense, because of him most left tackles in football are among the highest paid players in the game (because they protect the right qb blind side). Would you take LT over Ray Lewis or Reggie White?

  6. Isaak says:

I would take LT but that’s like having to choose between Brady or P. Manning. You would feel pretty confident going into a game with any of those guys.

Did Ricky retire to smoke pot again?

The rumors of why Ricky retired are unsubstantiated still, as are the rumors of Ricky relocating to New London as a “safe haven.”
