Eastern CT Fab 5 Softball

Softball around here begins and ends with Waterford, but in the middle there are some

very good programs who are capable of giving the Lancers all they can handle during

the season.  My top 5 softball teams in the area after games played on April 18th are:

1-Waterford, they are looking like they will make another run at a State Championship

2-Griswold, the Wolverines always produce a solid team and this is no exception.

3-Stonington, the Bears are a very dangerous team who beat Waterford in last year’s tournament

4-Fitch, the Falcons seem to be getting better as the season progresses, big comeback

over Griswold yesterday.

5-St. Bernard, although the Saints lost to Lyman they have a harder strength of schedule

and already have some quality wins on resume.

You might want to rethink St Bernard’s strength of schedule thus far………Putnam, Wheeler, Old Saybrook, and a weak NFA??!!!??

While Lyman’s only losses were to Waterford and Coginchaug??

Scott, looking at the two schedules for Lyman and St. Bernard it looks like both have lost to the better the teams and beat up on the weaker teams. You have to give the edge right now to Lyman because you beat the Saints the first time around, but as the season plays out the better team will emerge. I would say its a dead heat as of now.
