Eastern CT Baseball Fab Five, Falcons are #1

These are my updated rankings as of May 6th.  We are starting to get to the point in the

season where the good teams start separating themselves from the pack.  I think that

is exactly what is happening with my top 5 teams for this week, as they are clearly the

head of the class as of now.

1-Fitch, the Falcons take over the top spot based on their win against Waterford Friday

night.   They now boast wins over the Lancers, East Lyme, and Montville.  They are a

talented group with a solid pitching staff and all-area mvp type Aaron Hill at SS.

2-Waterford, the Lancers have been number one all year but with the Falcons beating

them the other day I am going to give the nod to Fitch for this week.  Waterford has

as good a staff as anybody in the state and will be a serious contender for ECC and state

3-Montville, the Indians continue to dominate the Medium division and won a crucial

game against Stonington this past week.  It will be interesting to see how they fair in

the ECC Tournament against some of the better teams in the league.

4-St. Bernard, the Saints are rolling and don’t be surprise if they end up 16-4 or 15-5

after starting 4-4.  With a win Tuesday at Lyman, the Saints can effectively clinch the

small division for the 2nd year in a row.  The pitching has been lights out as expected for SB,

and with the bats starting to come around I am looking forward to moving them up in these

standings as the season progresses.

5-East Lyme, the Vikings are about 3 runs away from having an incredible season.  They

have the potential to do great things as the season moves forward as the Vike’s pitching

staff is loaded with experienced hurlers and a couple of the area’s best players in SS

Zach Kane and C Chase Livingston.
