Coach Davila’s Big Day

Congratulations to Coach Izzy Davila, who won his first Batter Up Home Run Derby

on Thursday, easily outdistancing the rest of the field.  Included in his total was a nearly

400 foot blast over the scoreboard and into the woods.  Coach Connor Buckley finished

as the runner up with an impressive display of power as well.  To finish off his big day,

after camp was over Coach Davila played in a American Legion game for New London

against rival Niantic.  In the bottom of the 9th, Davila hit a walk off single to right field

to win the game 1-0 for New London in a pitchers duel.  Congrats to Coach D.  In other

news related to the Home Run Derby, Coach Buscetto has to finally admit that I am old

and can’t hit anymore.  Not only did I lose the Derby, I didn’t even manage to hit one

home run.  Its a sad day indeed when the end comes this quick…especially when you’re

used to winning every year and the kids were depending on me for slushies…What kind

of hitter lets the kids down with slushies on the line??
