Batter Up Championship Friday Results

We had a great week of camp at Pawcatuck Little League once again, as the group of

kids we had this week really did an outstanding job competing, hustling, listening, and

enjoying the game of baseball.  Here are the results from Championship Friday.

The Mets and Braves ended their thrilling series with a 15-15 tie in 9 innings.  Both teams

took turns taking the lead a few times in the game that featured lots of great plays.  Max

Laterra and Julian Rodriquez hit a two run homers for the Braves, Franciso Benbow turned

two double plays in the game as well.  Zach Miner, Kate Rafferty, Quinn Labelle, Connor

Motzko, Thomas Fiore, Wyatt Verbridge, Alec Hamilton, NicCanella and Joe D’Angelo

all had multiple hits all week for the Mets and Braves.  Great job!!

The Diamondbacks and Rockies played another thrilling game, with the Dbacks winning

10-9 to even the series for the week.  Ethan Mireault had a triple and 2 rbi’s for the Rockies.

James Powers put on a laser show according to Coach Buckley, as he collected 4 hits

while Nick Fiore added two hits and an rbi for the Dbacks.  This game was perhaps the

game played with the most sportsmanship and hustle I have seen in a long time, both

teams played hard and played the right way all week.

The “Dogfight” all week was the UCLA and Miss St. game on the grey field, with lead changes

and great plays being made almost every inning.  On Friday Miss St escaped with an 8-7

victory to win the series for the week.  Cole Devoe hit a bases loaded double off the fence,

Wynn Hammond had two hits and two rbi’s.  Aaliyah Amidon was the defensive MVP

of the game, sealing the win for Miss St with an amazing catch in the bottom of the ninth.

Chase Williams had two hits and two rbi’s for UCLA, while each player collected at least

one hit in the game.

The Red Sox-Yankees game was a thriller, with the Yankees winning in extra innings

to tie the series for the week.  Liam Martley led the Red Sox attack with 5 hits, while

Drew Wilson had two hits and was flashing the leather on defense all game.  Lucas Holliman

had 4 hits and 6 rbi’s to lead the Yankees to the win.  Connor Powell, Nick Abely, Jackson

Deperry, and Devin Kazarian all had multiple hit games.  Both teams played hard all

week and did a wonderful job.

The Florida State Seminoles won the older division round robin versus the Miami

Hurricanes and the Florida Gators.  Rhys Hammond led the ‘Noles with 3 hits and an

outfield assist to home plate to save a run, and Steve Devoe had 2 hits.  For the ‘Canes

Mike Fiore had a two run triple and made a great diving play on defense and Jake O’keefe

had a double and a great defensive play staying in front of a hard line drive.  For the Gators

Jake Verbridge and Gary Amidon led the way with 2 hits and an rbi each.
