Arielle Cooper, All-American On The Field And Off

Sometimes through athletics you meet people who are just wonderful human beings, people who make your day brighter because they are around you.  One of the great kids I’ve ever encountered is Arielle Cooper, the Junior from Fitch who just led Eastern into the NCAA Division 3 Regionals.  Cooper extended her ECSU school record hitting streak to 32 games in the Little East Tournament Final Saturday, on the way to earning MVP honors for the tourney.  I got to know Arielle and her kid sister Haley over the years as they played softball on some travel teams with my daughter Jordan, and I even got to coach Haley in hoop for about 4 years.  Arielle is a product of parents who always pushed her to be her, and not to settle for being anything less than a wonderful person first, great athlete second.  They should be commended on a job well done.  Take a look at the article that appeared in the Norwich Bulletin about Arielle and the rest of the ECSU Warriors as they go after a National Championship.

I’d like to thank you for the write up. It means a lot not only to me and my parents. I’d also like to thank you for the advice you once gave me on choosing the right college and the many conversations we have shared. I am proud to represent my family, community and the coaches I have once played for, and hopefully I will have a national championship story to share with you soon!

    Love, Arielle
